CAO Arcana Mortal Coil Back For Second Release

Aug 18, 2023

Part of the relatively new Arcana series, CAO Mortal Coil debuted in early 2021 featuring a leaf or two of andullo in the filler as its defining tobacco. The blend is back for 2023, and the cigars started shipping to retailers yesterday.

“The fans of CAO spoke and we listened,” said senior brand manager Ed Lahmann.

Andullo is a tobacco that’s quite different from most tobacco found in premium cigars. Rather than the bulk fermentation typical of the premium cigar industry, andullo is rolled into long cylinders, tightly wrapped in palm tree pods and hung like sausages. After two years, the leaves turn into compressed logs of sweet, concentrated tobacco.

In addition to the andullo in the filler, the CAO Mortal Coil consists of a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, Connecticut shade binder and filler blend of Honduran, Nicaraguan and Dominican tobacco. It comes in one Toro size, measuring 6 1/8 inches long by 50 ring gauge, and retails for $11.99 each.

Like the first release, CAO Mortal Coil is packaged in 20-count boxes and made at the STG Estelí factory in Nicaragua.
